January 2025 Devotional #1 - A New Thing – Trusting God’s Plan for Your Future

Scripture: Isaiah 43:18-19

“Forget the former things; do not dwell on the past. See, I am doing a new thing! Now it springs up; do you not perceive it? I am making a way in the wilderness and streams in the wasteland.”

Life is Full of New Beginnings

As young people, we often find ourselves at crossroads—graduating from school, starting a new job, building new friendships, or even struggling with personal failures. The past can feel like a weight on our shoulders, especially when we hold on to regrets, disappointments, or mistakes. But in Isaiah 43:18-19, God gives us a powerful reminder: “Forget the former things; do not dwell on the past.

God is not saying to erase your memories, but rather not to let the past define you. Whether you’ve had failures, heartbreaks, or disappointments, God is calling you to move forward because He is doing something new in your life!

God’s New Thing in Your Life

“See, I am doing a new thing! Now it springs up; do you not perceive it?

Sometimes, we are so focused on what went wrong that we miss what God is doing right now. God is already working in your life, creating new opportunities, opening doors, and bringing the right people into your path. But to see it, you must trust Him and be willing to let go of the past.

  • Are you holding on to past failures? God is giving you a fresh start

  • Are you stuck in past mistakes? God’s grace is bigger than your failures

  • Are you afraid of the future? God is already making a way for you

A Way in the Wilderness

“I am making a way in the wilderness and streams in the wasteland.”

Life can sometimes feel like a wilderness—a place of confusion, loneliness, or uncertainty. But God promises to make a way even in the driest, most difficult seasons. Maybe you’re wondering, What’s next for me? Where is my life going? Trust that God is already preparing a path, even when you don’t see it yet.

Reflection and Application

  1. What are some past struggles or mistakes you need to let go of?

  2. In what ways do you see God doing something new in your life?

  3. How can you trust God more with your future?

Prayer

Dear God, thank You for reminding me that You are doing a new thing in my life. Help me to let go of the past and trust in the path You are creating for me. Even when I feel lost, remind me that You are making a way in the wilderness. I put my future in Your hands. In Jesus’ name, Amen

Final Thought

God is always working in your life, even when you don’t see it yet. Trust Him, move forward, and get ready—because something new is coming!
